ED Drugs Cause a Rise in STD Infections

Annals of Internal Medicine released a new study linking patients that take erectile dysfunction medication with a heightened risk of contracting STDs.  The study was released earlier this month, citing that the increase in sexually transmitted disease rates may be due to the patient demographic being of an older age group.  Therefore, older men are less inclined to use condoms because they feel less threatened by the risk of sex resulting in pregnancy.

The study also identified that a handful of study participants already had an STD before being prescribed an erectile dysfunction correctional drug.  In many cases, the STD was contracted not long before the men started on the medication.  This suggests that a significant percentage of men taking these drugs do not actually have erectile dysfunction, but rather take the drug for a heightened sensation of sexual activity.

Taking erectile dysfunction medications unwarrantedly can lead to fatal consequences.  Many abusers are unaware of the perils that come with mixing ED pills with other medications.  Consequences include dangerously low blood pressure and even death.
