Red light therapy uses low-wavelength red lights inside a cap that can be placed on the head and wore per your physician’s instructions for up to 1 hour depending on the severity of the hair loss (normal sessions are between 15 and 30 minutes). This therapy can also be called low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and photobiomodulation, red light therapy affects the mitochondria in cells. It boosts levels of reactive oxygen species (molecules that can cause damage) and increases the production of ATP (fuel for cells). This causes changes and encourages hair growth.
Red light therapy for hair restoration allows the cells to metabolize energy more efficiently. This energy restores the hair follicle and allows more hair to grow.
Hair regrowth takes time but generally you and your physicians can track your hair regrowth beginning between 3 and 6 months.
Possible Side effects:
- Tingling
- Redness
- Itching- rarely
- Possible ingrown new hair as it tries to emerge from the hair follicle
- A possible headache, if this occurs speak with your physician for adjusting your treatment program
PRP Hair Restoration Therapy

PRP therapy involves drawing your blood, processing it to concentrate platelets, then injecting it into your scalp to possibly stimulate hair growth.
Possible side effects:
- Pain at the injection site
- Headache
